The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), alleging harassment by Delhi Police, has written to the Election Commission of India (ECI) seeking clarification on campaigning.
Party volunteers alleged that despite peacefully canvassing wearing caps, they were detained by Delhi Police for violating the code of conduct.“On Tuesday, some of our volunteers were detained at Rajender Nagar Police Station and were let off for lack of a valid reason,” said an AAP volunteer.
The letter, written by the National Secretary of the party, sought clarification from the ECI on use of caps and T-shirts with party symbols, stickers emblazoned with party name measuring no more than 14 inches on a vehicle as well as distribution of badges with party symbols and names.
