NMC transfers health officer to City Zone

In a sudden move, North Delhi Municipal Corporation transferred Dr Pramod Verma, the District Health Officer, on Tuesday and posted him at City Zone.

Verma kept on promoting and pitching for adopting scientifically proved eco friendly measures such as dengue free cooler, and uses of 'Agave Americana' plant to check mosquito breeding. He also stressed to induct of Gambusia fishes to control breeding in stagnant water and this could be very possible reason for his transfer as importantly all these measures are cheap and easily accessible while insecticides used for spraying are costly and is done usually without any supervision and further making money by selling it in free market," sources in the Corporation said. SDMC Commissioner PK Gupta was not available for comment.

The Pioneer on August 25 had reported that civic bodies’ district health officers have been mixing negligible amount of insecticides in water filled tanks to prevent mosquito breeding.
