North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NMC) removed a large number of temporary encroachments from Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar with the help of local police, a senior official said on Saturday.
“North Corporation lifted 15 trucks parked in the no parking zone with the help of cranes and took them to the Corporation's store. About 55 temporary kiosks on the pavement were also removed with the help of JCB,” he said.
The official said that about 2700 square meters of road was cleared from encroachment. “The encroachments were removed in a joint action by the official of licensing, engineering, horticulture and health department of Civil Lines Zone in the last couple of days,” he said. The action was taken by the Civil Lines zone to reduce dust emission as per instructions of the Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority and Delhi Pollution Control Committee.
