North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NMC) on Wednesday handed over a job letter to wife of deceased e- rickshaw driver Kumar.
Mayor Preety Agarwal visited the victim's family at their residence at Kingsway Camp area and handed over the letter to Rani for appointment as a class-IV employee, a senior NMC official said.
The class-IV employee postition is that of a beldar/ coolie as per the minimum wages approved by the Central Government, the official said.
Preety Agarwal said that she has been engaged under 'Dependents Welfare Scheme' and this decision has been taken considering that her husband was objecting to the culprits urinating in the open. She further clarified that this arrangement is made as per prevalent rules and has been offered engagement for 89 days initially but this would continue in future as well.
The Mayor was accompanied by Additional Commissioner (Engg), SK Bhandari and Deputy Commissioner, Deepak Purohit, Civil lines zone.
