North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NMC) Mayor Adesh Kumar Gupta on Wednesday chaired a review meeting with senior officials and directed the concerned officials to finish the desilting of drains in the next four days.
Adesh Kumar Gupta directed the engineering and Department of Environment Management Services (DEMS) to desilt the drains less than four feet deep.
The Mayor was apprised that that desilting of drains deeper than four feet has been completed by 71 per cent and the rest will also be done very soon.
Officials told the Mayor that there are 193 drains with four feet and above deepness with total length of 1, 15,746 meter. “About 7990.67 metric ton of silt has been removed from these drains,” they said.
A senior NMC official said that another review meeting will be called in this regard soon to assess the progress.
