The war of words between Delhi Government and the Municipal Corporation continued with North Delhi Municipal Corporation arguing that the cost and construction period of Rani Jhansi Grade separator has increased because of difficulties being faced on the front of land acquisition, relocation, litigation, enhanced compensation, shifting of religious structures and not due to corruption.
Officials on Friday refuted the charges of corruption levelled by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) against the corporation in the construction of Rani Jhansi Grade Separator.
leader of House of North Delhi Municipal Corporation Vijay Prakash Pandey has strongly refuted the charges of corruption levelled by AAPleader Dilip Pandey against the corporation in allotment of sanitation work in three of its hospitals and construction of Rani Jhansi Grade Separator.
"The construction cost of Rani Jhansi Grade Separator still remains Rs93.84 crore. There is no provision for escalation in construction cost as per the tender document. The main reason for cost and time overrun of the grade separator is delay in land acquisition for the project, which is to be done by the Delhi Government. The cost of exchange of land has increased from Rs70 crore originally to Rs524 crore, out of which approximately Rs111 crore has been paid and Rs413 crore are still required," Pandey said.
"Taking into consideration all factors, a revised cost of the project was prepared at Rs724.22 crore. Since North DMC is unable to make the entire expenditure on its own due to paucity of funds, it approached GNTCD, which released Rs20 crore in 2014-15 and Rs50 crore in 2015-16. However, amount allocated for 2015-16 has not been released by the Delhi Government so far," Pandey added.
Pandey said the Delhi Government wants to mislead the citizens of Delhi by spreading false information about working of the corporation.
