Over 600 illegal properties have been demolished, sealed and issued notices in North Delhi as part of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NMC)’s anti-unauthorised construction drive.
“Five properties were fully demolished while a portion of 333 illegal properties were partly demolished. 36 properties were also sealed for illegal construction during the drive,” a senior official of the NMC said.
The official further informed that the corporation issued demolition notices against 231 properties which were constructed illegally under section 343, 344(1) of ‘Delhi Municipal Corporation Act’.
“The corporation has simplified the process of sanctioning the building plans and they can apply online for its time bound approval. Moreover if demolition action has to be taken then its cost would also be recovered from the owner or builder,” he said.
The corporation has also realised Rs 3,25,500 after carrying out demolition actions in the last two months. The north body has also alerted those who are initiating new constructions to avoid further inconvenience.
