Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday met his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal over lunch and supported full statehood for Delhi. It is learnt that the Bihar CM impressed upon Kejriwal to come and join forces against the BJP in the Bihar Assembly elections. Kumar met Kejriwal at his office at Players’ Building.
“Delhi should get full statehood and we will support it,” Kumar said. According to a Press release, the Bihar Chief Minister had come to congratulate Kejriwal and AAP MlAs for their victory in Delhi Assembly polls. “Nitishji came to congratulate us for our victory in Delhi. We had invited him for lunch,” Kejriwal said.
The meet comes a day after Kumar had a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is learnt that both Kumar and Kejriwal reported to have discussed about their future alliance. In other words, Kumar may join hands with the AAP in the forthcoming Bihar Assembly polls. Kejriwal, however, denied having any political talks with Kumar.
The Bihar CM too said nothing political was discussed during the meeting. “We had met before at Rashtrapati Bhavan, which was a coincidence. Then we had decided to meet in future. I was here so I came to congratulate him and his team,” Kumar said. It may be noted that Kumar wanted to campaign in Delhi against Modi but he didn’t. Kumar had appreciated Kejriwal in Delhi. Kumar also met Congress president Sonia Gandhi and drove to Tihar Jail to see INlD chief Om Prakash Chautala.
