Faced with the grim reality of the juvenile convict in December 16, 2012, gangrape case to be released on Sunday Nirbhaya's parents want him to be 'named' and 'shamed'. The parents who are yet to come to the terms of their 23-year-old daughter's tragic death told The Pioneer in one-to-one meeting at his house on Monday that they want the face of the juvenile (now a major) to be shown to the world.
He must go through the same ordeal that we were subjected to since that black night when our daughter was brutally gang-raped on a moving bus in South Delhi's Munirka, said Nirbhaya's father. "We just want him to remain in the observation home and not come out," said Nirbhaya's father.
When asked about his demands on juvenile's release, he said, "I am clueless what I will do if he comes out. I have not even thought of my next move. I want the criminal to be exposed. Show his face to the world. How can we be sure that he is remorseful of his acts and also what if he attacks another girl like he did to oursIJ," he said.
The juvenile was identified to be the most violent among the five other men — Ram Singh, Pawan, Mukesh, Vinay and Akshay — who inflicted barbaric injuries on the female medical student from Ballia in Uttar Pradesh before throwing her and her male friend out of the moving private bus. While the four men faced death penalty as per the verdict on September 10, 2013, Ram Singh committed suicide in Tihar Jail on March 11, 2013, and juvenile was sent to one observation home for three years. The victim succumbed to her injuries on December 29 in a Singapore hospital.
