A 45-year-old autorickshaw driver was arrested in connection with the alleged molestation of a Nigerian woman in a moving autorickshaw near West Delhi’s Tilak Nagar area, police said on Tuesday.

While the accused, identified as Aagya Pal Singh was arrested, the co-accused in the case, his brother Baljeet Singh, is still at large. The duo is resident of West Delhi’s Tilak Nagar area, DCP (West) Pushpendra Kumar said.

According to police, the incident took place in the wee hours of Friday when the woman was heading to a friend’s place in Shahpura. She took one of two auto-rickshaws which she saw parked on the road but, when she entered the vehicle, the driver of the second auto-rickshaw, Baljeet got in behind her. She was thereafter allegedly molested by him, said police.

In her complaint, the woman told police that she had tried to jump off the moving vehicle but the duo prevented her from doing so. Following her screaming, Baljeet threw her off the vehicle and fled the spot. The woman, who sustained injuries, called up police and was rushed to DDU Hospital for treatment.

“In the preliminary enquiry it was found that at that night Aagya Pal Singh and Baljeet Singh were present at a late hour with their autorickshaws near the place of incident of the crime. “Upon a specific input, Aagya Pal Singh was tracked down on Monday.  On being interrogated, he admitted that he had committed the crime with his brother. Efforts are on to nab Baljeet,” Pushpendra Kumar added.
