The Delhi Police crime branch has arrested a 25-year-old Nigerian national who would allegedly pose as an official from the German embassy and dupe people in the pretext of selling them second hand cars at throwaway price.
The accused Okoye Ejike Kennedy was arrested after one Sudhakar Manda registered a complaint stating that he conned him of Rs 45,000. According to the complainant, he contacted the accused after he saw an advertisement for a second hand Nissan Terrano car for Rs 4.5 lakh.
“The accused allegedly told the complainant that he is leaving the country and wanted to sell his car.
He asked the complainant to transfer ten percent of the amount to his secretary’s account, after which he would be allowed to see the car,” Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Dr Ajit Kumar Singla stated.
“Once the money was transferred, the accused changed his mobile number and destroyed the previous SIM card,” said the Addl CP.
