Getting a new electricity connection is about to become quick, hassle-free and paper-free in the Capital. BSES has introduced the facility to apply for a new electricity connection from the comfort of one’s home or office without having to visit the BSES office even once during the whole process. Moreover, the whole process from filing the application to getting the new connection will take only 15 days.
Application can be filled out, documents can be uploaded and even payment can be made online for any new connection in BSES’s licenced areas of South, West, East and Central Delhi.
In a statement issued on Thursday, BSES said that with the launch of the new service, BSES will be able to reduce the existing seven step process to get new connection to just three and the whole process of getting a new connection will be completed within 15 days.
Explaining the process, a BSES spokesperson said, “All a person has to do is log on to BSES’ website, click on the link ‘New Connection
Request’ and complete the requisite fields and upload documents. After checking the technical feasibility, the demand note will be generated online. This can also be paid online very soon.”
Not only that, for consumers who are not very Internet-savvy, BSES has also announced that it will help complete all the commercial and technical formalities for new connections using mobile tablets right at their doorstep. “They will also be able to scan documents, take photographs (of the site and applicant) and capture digital signatures right at the consumer’s doorstep,” said the statement.
With the new technology in place, all consumer requests for new electricity connections will now be processed on-line and BSES has become the first discom in Delhi to embrace this mobile technology to issue new connections.
