Akash Tomar, a 2013 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, has taken over as the Superintendent of Police (SP) City. Tomar, who had served as aide-de-camp (ADC) to the Uttar Pradesh Governor took over the reins from his predecessor Salman Taj Patil, who has been put on compulsory wait list.

Tomar,  a technocrat from an Allahabad-based institute, told The Pioneer that his area of focus would be providing justice to the deprived sections of the society.

Reaching out to the last man of the society is the motto of the Uttar Pradesh Government and he will adhere to that in letter and spirit.

About his past postings, the young IPS officer said he had an opportunity to serve as the ADC to the Governor of Uttar Pradesh. He had also served as Additional SP in Kanpur, Bareilly and Jaunpur districts.

Tomar said he will also try to arrest the street crime graph. The job of the police is to ensure the safety and security of the women and girls and as SP City he would lay extra emphasis on this aspect. Hoodlums and anti-social elements will be kept at bay and police will proactively pursue pending cases to bring the culprits to book.
