In yet another incident of sexual assault on children, a three-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 22-year-old man near her home in Central Delhi's Anand Parbat area. The accused, known to the parents of the girl child was arrested and sent to judicial custody, police said on Thursday.
Police sources said that the minor girl had sustained severe wounds in her private parts so much so that she had to undergo two surgeries.
Police said that the incident took place on Wednesday morning when the minor girl went missing while she was playing outside her house. Police on Wednesday arrested the accused, 22-year-old Vijay, who is a daily wage labourer.
Police said that on Wednesday morning, at around 7:30am, parents of the three year old girl discovered that the girl was missing. The parents along with the locals of the Nehru Nagar area started searching for the girl.
Minutes later the parents while looking for the minor daughter found that she was lying profusely bleeding on the ground at Vijay's house.
The locals of the Nehru Nagar area in Anand Parbat nabbed the accused and informed the local police.
later on Wednesday night, locals staged a protest outside the Anand Parbat police station over delay in arresting the accused. locals claimed that the police station is barely a few meters away from the place of incident.
In the meantime, the parents of the three year old rushed her to the lady Hardinge hospital. Here the minor girl who had sustained brutal injuries to her private parts had to undergo two surgeries. Currently, she is recuperating at the the NICU in Kalawati Hospital.
locals said that Vijay, the accused was known to the parents of the three year old girl. Since they all used to bond as daily wage labourers, Vijay used to frequent the house of the minor girl.
Police said that they have registered a case under sections rape and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act at the Anand Parbat police station.
