The New Delhi Municipal Council is working upon the digitisation of the all NDMC hospitals and medical centres falling under its area. Patients can make their OPD appointment online through the Smart Health  service.

Speaking to The Pioneer, NDMC secretary Chanchal Yadav said, “The digitisation of the health sector will help us in many ways such as in planning, managing crowd, deploying the human resource, identifying the requirement of new machinery and equipment and also understanding the pattern of diseases.”

The first module has been started in the Charak Palika hospital. The civic body is now identifying more modules, to boost the health care system in the hospitals falling under its jurisdiction. According to the official, smart health projects will improve the quality of lives of all segments of citizens

Smart Health will help in various ways such as improving efficiency and effectiveness through Cloud-based integration of existing public medical facilities, enabling access and reduced response time to avail healthcare facilities for EWS through a centralised portal. It will also help people in enabling an online portal to avail medical advice through a network of online volunteer situations.

This will aid monitoring the availability of required blood group in blood banks during emergency time and accessing real time analytics for predicting/monitoring the areas during outbreak of epidemic and dissemination of information on specific air pollutants through public display boards and formulating appropriate mitigations strategies.
