NDMC staffer accuses AAP MlA of assault

An official of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) was allegedly thrashed by AAP MlA Surinder Singh from Delhi Cantt seat on Tuesday evening. Till Wednesday evening no arrest has been made, according to sources.

It is understood that RJ Meena posted as Sanitary Inspector in the NDMC was abused by MlA Singh while his junior staff Mukesh Kumar was punched several times on his face by Singh's driver following an argument with them.

The NDMC official in his written complaint before police said that the MlA also thrashed Mukesh and threatened him of dire consequences. After the incident the victim officials made the PCR call around 6.10 pm on Tuesday. By the time local police led by the Station House Officer Pramod Joshi reached the spot and took the official for the medical examination, the MlA and his men had left the place.

The NDMC official told police that he, along with other NDMC official, was conducting anti-encroachment drive at the Race Course Road when the AAP MlA who was passing by the area in his car stopped to intervene.

Vice-chairperson of NDMC Kanwar Singh Tanwar in a statement said, "The MlA mercilessly beat up an employee of NDMC leading to severe injuries. A criminal case has been registered against Singh bearing FIR number 88/2015."

Despite repeated attempts the deputy commissioner of police (New Delhi) Vijay Singh was unavailable for comments/

This is not the first time that MlA Singh is in the news for the wrong reasons. Soon after former law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar was arrested for possessing fake degrees, allegations were leveled against the former NSG commando as well for having fake educational documents. He had last month met Delhi Police Commissioner Bhim Sain Bassi to offer "court arrest". He had alleged that it was a political conspiracy against him and his party.
