An inspection carried by New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) under Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan on Saturday found that many places are full of garbage and unauthorised parking.  At some places, pavements were found encroached in the area. At many places, toilets were found in a bad shape. Some tracks were even found without street lights. The report was prepared by the senior officials of NDMC on the basis of inspections carried by them. The report has been submitted to Chief Secretary of Delhi. The report showed that though some places had been cleaned of garbage, there were many others where action was required on a priority.

A detailed analysis of the NDMC area, visited by the senior officers, showed that all was not well at several places. For instance, there was neither any urinal pot nor any mirror in the girl’s toilet in Navyug School in Sarojini Nagar. The inspection by the officials showed that the garbage trolleys in Netaji Nagar were rusting.

According to report, the dustbins near the Central Secretariat were in a dilapidated state. The officers have given standing instructions that the dustbins should be cleaned on a regular basis. Instructions were also issued for a regular cleaning of the Krishi Bhavan roundabout. The officers were also directed to remove garbage from the gate of the Iranian Embassy.

The report said that the parking areas in Connaught Place were not clean. The officials also instructed for removal of garbage dumps near R K Ashram. Instructions were also issued for holding regular meetings with the Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) for door-to-door collection of garbage from the Pandara Park flats.

It is noted that an advisory has also been issued to the residents of Palika Niwas to ensure garbage was not strewn open in their area. At the Charak Palika Hospital in Moti Bagh, the report pointed out, there was no soap and naphthalene balls in toilets. Even the tests of the water samples of coolers had reportedly not been carried out for the past two months.

The fencing of the Children’s Park at India Gate was also found damaged. The report revealed that there were no street lights on the cycle track at Tilak Marg. Even the foothpath behind quarter nos 7 and 15 were found damaged at Tilak lane. The ramp at the rear side of the NDMC nursery at Purana Qila Road was also found damaged. Even unauthorised parking of buses was also reported in the area.
