DU cracks admission test on Day 2
A day after chaos, Day 2 of admissions at all centres was successfully conducted as forms were disbursed without a hitch. Daulat Ram College on Tuesday pitched tents and provided multiple counters to issue the forms.
Even online, the response was appreciable as the university took care of the excessive load they were receiving. According to university officials, more than 30,000 aspirants were trying to access the site at one point, making the whole process painfully slow. However, the university put four servers on to the website which made the process quicker. Malay Neerav, media coordinator of DU said that by 3 pm, the university had already got over 16,000 online payments for applications.
The North Campus on Monday saw complete mismanagement of crowd and faced severe traffic setbacks as the Daulat Ram College was selling forms from the gate and no refreshments or facilities were available. Additionally, the university website also failed to handle the crowd and crashed. However, none of these problems were faced by students on Tuesday.
Even though all centres in the campus were crowded, there was no sign of negligence. The Daulat Ram College attracted the maximum crowd but there were no long queues at the venue. Along with that four help desks were present at the venue as well. There were three counters for the sale of forms and one for the receipt. Several volunteers of the NCC were also present at the venue to help students. Divya Kumari, a student at DRC, said, “I had come by on Monday as well but didn’t manage getting the form. Today the process is so well organised. It didn’t take me more than five minutes to get a form and in half an hour I completed the procedure also.”
There was chaos even in Khalsa College on Monday after the crowd from DRC was shifted there. On Tuesday, the crowd was well managed even there. However, Hansraj College has been conducting the smoothest admissions since Monday. Abhinav Gupta, a candidate at Hansraj, said, “This is the only centre where we have a lecture theatre to sit in and fill the form. No other college has provided this. We were also getting refreshments, which was a big relief. The other centres are organised but they don’t have so many facilities.”
