The distraught mother of the 16-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped and murdered last week, lamented that had her daughter’s friend registered a complaint against the two accused, her daughter could have been saved.
On Sunday, while being probed and counselled by the Delhi Police, the victim’s friend disclosed that she was also raped two weeks ago by the same men who killed her friend. However, she did not tell anyone about the incident.
According to the mother of the deceased, she had no clue of what was going on with her daughter. “She normally used to go out and never told me anything about any eve-teasing or molestation by anyone,” said the mother, adding, “Why didn’t she speak up if this much was going on. Also, why didn’t her friend registered complaint… I would have never lost my daughter if that girl had spoken up. Pata nahi kya hua… mujhe kabhi kuch nahi btaya usne (I don’t know what happened as she never told me anything).
The deceased girl was a student of Class IX in a nearby Government school. The mother, who throughout maintained she had no clue of what was going on, added, “When I reached home after work, I thought the cylinder blasted but when I unlocked the door, I found her body in bed…her lower body was burnt.”
“My daughter wanted to study computer as she used to tell me that she is not good on the subject and wants to improve,” she added.
According to police, the girl’s body was found on a bed in her house that was locked from outside. Her body was burnt below the waist and an autopsy report revealed that she was raped before being strangled to death. They suspect her body was burnt to cover-up the sexual assault.
After police probed her friend, she disclosed that two men — Danish and Ashu — raped her too and were now asking for sexual favours from the deceased girl.
Both the accused have been arrested by the Delhi Police. Danish (25) hails from Uttar Pradesh and was running a small garment unit in Kailash Nagar for sewing clothes. He is a Class V pass and has been residing with five brothers and one sister in the Capital since last 10 years.
