A 55-year-old widow working with MTNl was found dead under mysterious circumstance at her residence in East Delhi’s Shakarpur area on late Tuesday night.
Shanti Devi’s body was first found by her son in a pool of blood. The incident was reported around 11:30pm on Tuesday night. Shanti Devi was alone at her residence. Her son Vicky (32) had gone out to meet a friend.
He returned home at 11:25pm and saw his mother lying in a pool of blood with the television on. According to the police, the woman’s throat was slit with a sharp knife as the cut was very deep. The neighbours claimed that they saw her walking in front of the house around 9:30 pm. “She used to walk everyday after dinner. We saw her last night too. When her son raised an alarm we called the police,” said a neighbour.
