"Since it was a sensational crime, we deployed our Crisis Response Team. The accused was questioned for a couple of days. He did not give satisfactory replies. The CCTV cameras were scanned. Based on local Intelligence inputs and technical surveillance, we arrested Sunny from his house in Gautampuri area in Badarpur. The DCP said, "Sunny revealed that his father was a plumber at the DDA society for past 32 years and he too had been working at the society for past two years. At the time of the robbery cum murder, he had consumed drugs. On finding the door of the victim's house open, he entered and tried to strangle her with a rope."

The elderly woman resisted the attempt and following the resistance, he hit her head with a dumbbell and later slit her throat with a kitchen knife.
