19-year-old rowdy stabbed to death in Madangir market

In a bone-chilling incident, a 19-year-old youth was brutally stabbed to death by four to five people in Madangir Central Market of southeast Delhi. The deceased was identified as Sachin, who along with his friend was passing through the market on a bike. The incident took place on Tuesday evening.

The murder sequence was captured in the CCTV camera installed near a shop and all the accused persons were identified and they all were later detained as they have been found to be juveniles. Police have withheld their identity as the juveniles are protected under the law.

The CCTV footage showed the accused first beating the 19-year-old Sachin and then stabbing him repeatedly. It has been revealed that the deceased was a local bully who used to threaten and extort money from the accused persons. They decided to do away with him after they could not take it anymore, a police official said. Sachin and the accused persons were involved in fight in the past too over the extortion. Sachin’s friend who was with him at the time of the incident managed to flee from the clutches of the assailants. The onlookers who happened to be in the vicinity did not come to the rescue of Sachin. They just stood and saw him being brutally murdered on the streets of the national Capital.

A police official involved in the investigation said that when Sachin reached market, some five persons stopped him and suddenly started attacking him with knives. “It appears that the attack was pre-planned and all the accused were waiting for Sachin. They caught hold of him and started stabbing him. After stabbing him, all accused fled the spot,” said a senior police officer.

He was taken to the nearby hospital by a police team after somebody called up the Police Control Room (PCR). The officer also said Sachin was declared dead on the arrival as so much of blood was lost before the medical help could be provided.

“During investigation, we have got to know that two or three accused were known to victim,” he added. “A case has been registered. Three of the accused are juveniles and the remaining two are being verified. Further investigations are underway,” said DCP, South-East P Karunakaran.
