Multi-layer security planned around CP amid protest

Delhi Police have outlined a multi-layered deployment around Connaught Place’s Central Park to manage the CJP protest scheduled for Friday. The arrangement is designed to contain the gathering, protect normal commercial and pedestrian movement, and respond quickly to any potential disturbance.

At the outermost level, traffic and local police units will control access roads leading into Connaught Place. Temporary diversions and intermittent checks will be put in place on major approach roads to prevent sudden surges of vehicles or additional crowds from entering the core area.

Officers will regulate the flow of public transport and private vehicles so that essential movement continues without prolonged blockages. Closer to Central Park, an intermediate cordon of barricades and personnel will mark the boundary of the designated protest zone.

This layer will channel protesters toward the approved assembly area while keeping shoppers, office workers and visitors on separate pathways. Additional personnel will be stationed at key intersections and entry points to the market complex to stop any spillover into busy shopping corridors or metro access points.

Inside the immediate vicinity of Central Park, a denser deployment of officers will supervise the assembly itself. These units will monitor crowd size, ensure the gathering remains within the allocated space, and intervene if the protest moves beyond permitted limits.

A quick-reaction team will remain on standby nearby, ready to reinforce any point where tension or obstruction arises. Continuous communication between ground units and the control room will allow rapid redeployment if conditions change.

The force has also factored in surveillance and coordination. CCTV feeds from the Connaught Place area will be monitored in real time, and liaison will be maintained with metro and fire services for contingency support.

The overall plan rests on the Delhi High Court’s assurance that it will take every feasible step to regulate and control the protesters under existing legal guidelines.

The multi-layered setup aims to keep the Friday demonstration orderly while limiting disruption in one of the capital’s busiest commercial centres.
