like in any sport, football is a competitive game played with a motto to win at any cost. But come July 24, a new ‘High voltage Football’ match will be played between two unlikely sets of players where result is secondary as the primary goal is to promote Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two pet projects — Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.
The match, which is scheduled for July 24 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, will see Members of Parliament and Bollywood stars chasing a football against each other’s goal post yet with similar goal.
Babul Supriyo, Minister of State, who will be leading parliamenatarians’ team, said, “I congratulate the organisers of the event for taking such a great initiative for supporting India’s biggest ever cleanliness drive ‘Swachchh Bharat Mission’ and ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ mission. Special thanks to the Adhunik Group and Rajendra Bhayani for allowing us to be a part of this noble cause. We all are much excited for the upcoming football match.”
Manoj Tiwari — BJP MP and one of the biggest Bhojpuri stars — will take the field as the vice-captain of the MPs’ team. “Feeling great to be a part of this grand Football Ka Mahamuqabla and request Delhities to come and be a part of it,” he said.
Priyanka Kothari, actress, director of Adhunik Group of companies and goodwill ambassador of the event, said, “For supporting ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ mission, I am supporting the ‘Football ka Mahamuqabla,’ because it aims to generate awareness and improving the efficiency of welfare services meant for women. I congratulate everyone associated with the event and wish success of the event.”
