A two and a half year old girl was thrown down the stairs by her mother in South- East Delhi' s Pul Prahladpur on Tuesday, police said on Thursday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, South East district, Romil Baniya, said the accused has been identified as Sonu Gupta.
“A PCR call was received about a quarrel and it was alleged that a child was thrown from the staircase of their house on the first floor. A police team was sent and on the complaint of the child's father Nitin Gupta a case was registered against the mother. She has not been arrested yet,” said the DCP.
Police is yet to verify whether the girl was the reason of the quarrel and if it was a fight between the parents which led to the incident.
The father Nitin Gupta, owns a cosmetic shop in Pul Prahladpur.
" On the basis of the complaint, a case under section 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the mother at the Pul Prahladpur police station. The father also alleged that he had the CCTV footage of the incident. Further investigations in the matter is on," added the DCP.
