In a shocking incident depicting extreme cruelty by a mother towards her children, a 38-year-old woman allegedly beat her 12-year-old son with an iron when he accidentally dropped a jar of flour on the ground while putting together his lunch.
She allegedly did not stop at that and went ahead and bite the child’s hand.
According to a senior police official, the incident took place at a house in North-West Delhi’s Ashok Vihar area on Sunday evening and came to light on late Sunday night.
Police said Disha(name changed), mother of Nishant (name changed) and a 13-year-old girl, was allegedly infuriated over a quarrel with her husband Jitu (name changed). Police said they have arrested the woman under appropriate Sections at Ashok Vihar police station. Further investigation is underway.
Sources said the couple, both employed at private firms, are going through a matrimonial dispute.
Enraged over heated argument with her husband, the woman first beat her son with an iron when his hand accidentally brushed against a container full of flour. Somehow Nishant managed to break free from her clutches and locked himself in his room. late on Sunday night, he opened the door when his father knocked. He narrated the incident to his father. After which, Jitu approached the local police.
In the meantime, he took his son to a nearby hospital where he was treated. Sources said he was discharged as he had suffered minor injuries.
A senior police officer said Disha was called for questioning. During sustained interrogation, she broke down and admitted that she did this to her son in a state of anger. She allegedly said angry with her husband over the constant fights, she vented her anger on their son.
