In an incident, an octogenarian, who went out for morning walk, on Wednesday died after a speeding car driver hit him in North east’s New Usmanpur area. The accused car driver was arrested by police on the same day.
According to a senior police official, the accused identified as Anil Kumar is a resident in same locality where the 80 year-old man, Chandrapal used to live. “After hitting Chandrapal in early in the morning, the accused driver had fled from the spot. The passerby however noted down the registration number of the car and gave it to police that helped in our investigation to identify the accused,” said the senior police official.
