Two commerce graduates employed with an e-commerce website have been arrested by the East district police after they were found involved in scores of snatchings.
They tried to snatch the chain of an elderly woman but ran out of luck. The old woman, identified as Sita, resisted the attempt and managed to catch one of them red-handed with the help of locals. They were arrested on Monday.
The accused Tara Chand and Pradeep Jha, both 21, are residents of Mandawali in East Delhi. They behaved well and presented themselves as educated boys. However, the bluff was soon exposed after investigators tracked them for many cases of snatching in East Delhi. “On Monday around 6 pm, the duo tried to snatch the gold chain of a middle-aged woman Sita in Madhu Vihar area. However, the woman, with the help of locals managed to nab Tara on the spot while Jha managed to flee. Chand was thrashed by people and later handed over to police,” said a police official. He said the duo worked for HomeShop18 call centre.
