With a dry start to September, the Met department has predicted that the monsoon is expected to leave the Capital by 15th of the month. While Friday began on a wet note, the weatherman said a week-long dry spell will follow the weekend. However, during the weekend, light rain will be witnessed in various parts of the city.
“Till now, it appears that monsoon in Delhi will be over by September 15. Unlike the past three years, this year, the conditions seem favourable for the season to end within the slated time. The upper air ridge, which pulls moist currents into the region, has started shifting towards the South-East.
The rain-bearing Easterly flows from the Bay of Bengal and low pressure systems, thus, are not moving beyond East Uttar Pradesh,” said a Met official. The first week of September may witness a dry spell because of the same reason, he added.
