19-year-old youth stabbed to death in Dakshinpuri area

Monetary dispute led to the brutal murder of a 19-year-old youth, who was stabbed to death in South-East Delhi’s Dakshinpuri area on Tuesday night, police said on Wednesday. He was stabbed repeatedly all over his body and was lying in a pool of blood. Nobody came to his rescue of the poor boy who was murdered in front of several passersby. locals alleged that even the local policemen did precious little to take the critically injured boy to hospital.

According to the police, the incident took place around 8 pm in Dakshinpuri area under the jurisdiction of Ambedkar Nagar police station. The accused and the victim were well acquainted with each other. The deceased has been identified as Raju Pandey, who was walking in the lane when the incident took place. The accused, Ashu (19), had on earlier occasions also had arguments over monetary issues with Raju. On the fateful day, Ashu was on his motorcycle and was crossing past Raju when the incident occurred. Ashu’s bike just brushed past Raju. An argument broke out between the two. Ashu took out a knife and stabbed Raju repeatedly.

Surprisingly the passersby just stood there and watched the entire incident and did not come forward to help Raju. locals alleged that when the police officials reached the spot they started questioning him instead of taking him to hospital. “A case of murder has been registered at Ambedkar Nagar police station. Further investigations are underway,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East) P Karunakaran.

Meanwhile, the mother of the deceased has a different story.” My son was eating food when a boy called him out. Her son reportedly waved at the boy that he was coming out. While leaving Raju told me that he would be back in a while. The incident took place when my son tried to save a child who was being hit by somebody. When my son tried to save that child, that person attacked my son. He killed my son. There was a policeman standing there, but he did not come to the rescue of my son,” she alleged.

Raju was attacked with a pair of scissors and a knife. He poked the scissors in my son’s abdomen and stabbed him in the thigh. There were a lot of people standing there but no one took him to hospital. By the time he was taken to the hospital he had bled to death, his grieving mother said.

A mobile clipping where the deceased can be seen lying on the ground in a pool of blood was recorded by one of the bystanders which clearly shows one of the police officers questioning the victim instead of rushing him to the hospital. However, senior police officials claim that the said police officers had already informed the ambulance which was on its way.

In another incident reported from North East Delhi’s Jafrabad area, a 25-year-old man was stabbed to death by a tea stall owner as there was an argument over the delay of serving tea. The accused has been arrested.
