It is official now Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the BJP in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. The party will, however, announce its chief ministerial candidate after the elections results are out.

A decision to this effect was conveyed in the first Delhi BJP executive committee meeting chaired by its national president Amit Shah on Wednesday, where the party’s Delhi unit leaders were directed to put up only Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photo on electoral hoardings and posters with the party’s slogan of ‘same Government in State and at the Centre’.

The leaders were clearly told that neither the leaders nor workers should put any other posters other than that of the Prime Minister. National General Secretary (organisation) Ram lal also said that posters with their pictures and instead focus on party’s slogan and Modi’s photo on posters. “State leaders have been asked to pull up their socks and contest the elections as a team. Individual promotion during the campaign has been put on hold, said a senior party leader.

“You (BJP leader) should spread slogan, Jiski Kendra main sarkar, usiki pradesh main sarkar (same Government in State and at Centre), and only give space to Modi ji’s photo in your posters and hoardings. You should not place their photos in such outdoor advertisement,” lal told party workers and leaders.

Addressing the State leaders and worker, Ram lal asked them to not leave any stone unturned in making the Prime Minister’s proposed rally on January 10 at Ramlila Grounds a big success. “From each Sahari kendra (polling centre), one bus should be arranged so that a large number people come to hear PM’s speech,” he added. The party leaders and workers were also administered an oath to ensure party’s victory in Assembly polls.

The BJP has already won elections from Haryana, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Jammu & Kashmir, under the PM’s leadership.
