Modi launches BJP poll campaign, attacks AAP

Launching  Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s campaign in the national Capital,  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched an attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over issues such as the alleged supply of dirty water in the city, unauthorised colonies, transportation, pollution and the AAP’s stand on the amended Citizenship Act and a proposed countrywide National Register of Citizens (NRC).

Addressing a rally at the Ramlila Maidan organised by the Delhi BJP unit to thank the Centre for passing the law in the Parliament to regularise 1,731 unauthorised colonies, the Prime Miniser said that the Delhi Government has kept its eyes closed on the biggest problem of the city, which is drinking water.

He said that the city records highest sale of water purifier in the country as he rejected the claims of the AAP dispensation about clean drinking water being supplied to the people.

The Prime Minister also said that had Delhi government not  created political hurdles, work on Metro Phase-IV would have started long back. Despite hurdles created by the Delhi Government, the PM said, the BJP-led Central Government has ensured that the metro network grows.

Delhi Assembly elections  are expected to be held in February next year. AAP is locked in a  triangular contest against the BJP and Congress to retain power. It may be noted that AAP had a landside in 2015 with 67 out of 67 seats. Currently it has 62 members as 4 of  its legislatures Kapil Mishra, Col Devendra Sehrawat, Alka Lamba and Anil Vajpayee were disqualified by the Assembly speaker Ram Niwas Goel for anti party activities, whereas BJP had wrested Rajauri garden seat from AAP in the byelection.
