In a scathing attack on the BJP following the Lieutenant Governor’s recommendation for a CBI probe into the “procedural lapses” in the implementation of Delhi Excise Policy, AAP MLA from Kalkaji Atishi alleged that the Modi Government had filed 151 cases against AAP Ministers and MLAs, but no incriminating evidence was found against them.
She further alleged that BJP was on a “witch hunt” against them. Several AAP functionaries came down heavily on the BJP-led central government alleging that they were being targeted and framed in false cases.
“The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi sanctioned a CBI investigation against Deputy CM Manish Sisodia. CBI, ED and Income Tax department raids and cases being registered and arrests being made by the Delhi Police is not a new thing for the AAP,” she said.
“Ever since AAP came to power in 2015, over 150 cases have been registered against the AAP Leaders, MLAs and ministers. Between 2015 to 2020, 52 cases were registered against our MLAs. For six months, over 400 files belonging to the Delhi Government were investigated by a Scheduled Committee formed by the Central Government through unconstitutional means. All the investigation agencies failed to find even a single proof of corruption against any AAP leader”, Atishi said.
Atishi alleged that Prime Minister Narenda Modi had “lost his sleep” ever since AAP won with a thumping majority in Punjab. “Because of his fear of Arvind Kejriwal, PM Modi has tasked his leaders and ministers to go on a witch hunt against AAP and prevent its growth. BJP is accusing deputy CM Manish Sisodia of causing a loss to the exchequer, while the new excise policy has generated a profit of Rs 1,300 crore in just four months. Delhi government earned Rs 5,446 crore compared with Rs 4,109 crore in 2019-20,” Atishi claimed.
She continued, “A few days ago, ED arrested Satyendar Jain and till today, ED is saying that he is not an accused but they are only interrogating him. Two months have passed since he is in the prison but the ED is yet to file a chargesheet against him.
“A few months ago Arvind Kejriwal even announced that Manish Sisodia is going to be the next target courtesy various sources and solid proofs he got. I want to ask the Central Government to first do a background check of the person they want to arrest,” Kalkaji MLA said.
Senior AAP Leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said, “BJP has a special place in the history of India as it has surpassed all the records and limits of corruption. Its National President was caught taking bribes on camera in a defence deal. Now they have the audacity to register false cases one after the other against the Delhi Government.”
