Tens of thousands of people swarmed Japanese Park on Tuesday afternoon as Modi’s high-decibel speech reverberated all around in the poll-bound national Capital. The crowd couldn’t stop cheering “Modi! Modi!” as his helicopter landed in the jam-packed ground. From young to the elderly and women, the ground was painted saffron.
A host of BJP flags, placards, slogans took over the streets as the clock struck 2 pm. Sloganeering, cheering “Chalo chalein Modi ke sath” as political temperature warmed Rohini Assembly seat. “Vishwas ne Modi ko maana”, Dilli mein Bhaajpa ko laana. “BJP will form a Government since Modi is the only asset we have in politics. We have seen his work on the ground after he was made the PM,” said Ramesh, a resident of Rohini Sector 14.
Donning a khadi kurta and half-jacket, Modi arrived at the podium and the ground burst into raptures. The stage was set and the applauding crowded reflected the mood of the Capital, said a BJP worker. As Modi went on to say, “Delhi has given me hope and strength. Today when the entire world looks at India, its eyes first set on Delhi. But Delhi has not yet got what it should have got. It needs an atmosphere that other capitals of the world have.” Each and every person present in the crowd could relate to what Delhi has bored in the past. Hails and applauses succeeded his 40-minute speech as Modi ended his extempore with “Bharat Maata ki Jai!”
“Modi understands the problems of the common man. He knows what it is to live in poverty. Others don’t! Forget politics, forget elections, we need a party that understands the basic problems of the public. Vijender Gupta, BJP’s candidate from Rohini, has ensured developmental works in this area. We need a leader who understands his constituency at its best,” said Dev Raj, a local.
