A 31-year-old manservant, employed at the residence of BJP senior party leader Murli Manohar Joshi, has allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in the servant’s quarters on 6 Raisina Road in New Delhi district on Friday morning. The cause of suicide has not been ascertained yet. Investigators have not recovered a suicide note from yet.
Police said that the deceased, identified as Jeevan, was a native of Ranchi in Jharkhand. “On Friday morning round 6 am when another attendant was sent to look for Jeevan since he had not reported for work at his appointed hour, his room was locked. Police broke into the room to find Jeevan hanging by the window,” a senior police officer said.
Preliminary investigations reveal that Jeevan started working at the Joshi residence a year-and-a-half ago and had visited his hometown a month back. He returned to work a week back. Ever since his return, he seemed despondent.
