A 57-year-old Government employee was found hanging from a tree near Kanavani area on Thursday. Police said that the victim, Maharaj Singh, was posted at the Audit Department of Noida Authority. According to Singh’s family, he had left home on Wednesday for some official work, but went missing since then. The family suspects abduction and murder of the employee.
According to police, Maharaj Singh was a resident of Sector 22 and was living with his family. On Wednesday, he left his house for some official work and was also to visit the bank. His family claims he had last called one of his colleagues and told him that he had been kidnapped by three men in a car. The family had also registered a missing report at Sector 20 Police Station. On Thursday, police found a body hanging from a tree. Neither his mobile phone was with him, nor was his wallet. It was only through his driving licence that he was identified. Police informed his family and sent the body for a post-mortem examination.
Police said that a panel of three doctors is doing the autopsy, which will ascertain the cause of death. “We are taking statements from all his colleagues and relatives. His mobile details are also being investigated,” said a police officer.
