A seven-year-old boy who was abducted on Saturday last was found murdered on Monday. His decomposed body was discovered stuffed in a desert cooler inside a temple in north east Delhi’s Gokulpuri area. A case of homicide has been registered at Gokulpuri police station.
Police have apprehended a man, identified as Sachin, said to be the paramour of the deceased’s mother Sana. He has claimed to be in a relationship with the woman saying the child was an impediment to their future. According to police, the incident came to light around 9 am on Monday. On August 31, Sahil was outdoors playing. His mother Sana could not find her son when she went looking for him. A missing persons report was filed at Gokulpuri police station. On Monday morning, when children in the locality visited the temple as a part of the ongoing Janmashtami celebrations, they complained of a stench radiating from inside the temple. Police was informed and Sahil’s decomposed boy was recovered from a cooler installed on the temple premises. According to locals, a rope was tied around his neck and blood had coagulated near his mouth.
“There were tell-tale ligature marks around the neck suggesting that the child was throttled to death. We are not ruling out the possibility of a sexual assault but are awaiting the post mortem report,” said Additional Commissioner of Police (North-East district) VV Chaudhary.
The parents of the child, separated four years since, seem busy indulging in a blame game. Casting aspersions on his estranged wife’s moral fibre, Javed alleged that Sana and her friends were behind his son’s murder. “She married me and left me for another man. She left him as well,” he said. Meanwhile, the boy’s mother alleged that Javed is a history-sheeter and the murderer of their son.
