A major shake-up effected by the lt Governor Najeeb Jung on Monday saw the exit of Deepak Mishra from the Delhi Police.
Mishra of the 1984 batch IPS (AGMUT cadre) held the highly sensitive post of Special CP law and Order for nearly four years. Currently he was holding the post of Special CP Administration. He has been transferred to Central Reserve Police Force as Additional Director General.
He will be the
second AGMUT cadre IPS officer to join CRPF in this month after SN Srivastava of the 1985 batch.
Apart from the high profile transfer of Deepak Misha is the omission of Mukesh Kumar Meena from the list who was promoted as Special CP recently. Meena is still holding the charge of New Delhi Range and Anti-Corruption Branch. Sources told The Pioneer that the l-G wants to retain Meena as the head of the ACB despite the fact that he has been transferred to Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Meena has been lobbying hard to retain his place in Delhi and is believed to have petitioned to get his transfer stayed on the grounds that his son is studying in 10th standard.
It is also rumoured that Joint Cadre Authority that was to decide the transfer of Meena and other senior IPS officers have been postponed owing to the tussle of certain senior IPS who are reluctant to leave the green pastures of Delhi to the grind of North Easteen States. S Nithiyanandam, DGP Arunchal and Ajay Kshyap DGP Mizoram are keen to return to the Delhi Police but pulls and pressures exerted by senior IPS officers in Delhi Police have put paid to
their efforts.
Meanwhile the expected reshuffle of Joint CP Ranges was ordered by the l-G on Monday after Delhi Police Commissioner Alok Kumar Verma submitted his recommendation to the l-G. RP Upadhyaya the 1991 batch IPS who was recently transferred from Chandigarh has been posted as Joint CP South Eastern Range. Upadhyay takes over from 1989 batch RS Krishnia who has been posted as Special CP Armed Police.
VS Chahal is the new Joint CP of Central Range. He replaces SK Gautam who has been sent to Security unit as Special CP. Satich Golchha currently holding the charge of Economic Offences Wing has been posted as Joint CP Eastern Range in place of Sanjay Baniwal who goes to Operations Unit as Special CP. Sandeep Goel has been posted as Special CP Traffic. Goel replaces Muktesh Chander who has gone to Goa as the DGP. Most importantly Airport Unit has been taken away from the Operations and given to Sundari Nanda who will also hold the charge of Special Unit for Women. Nuzhat Hassan the Joint CP Establishment who was tipped to take over the Central Range has been left untouched.
It would be interesting to see who gets highly sensitive New Delhi Range once the fate of Meena is decided.
TN Mohan who has reported back to the Delhi Police after serving as DGP Goa is still waiting for posting. Notably, the post of DG Delhi Prisons is lying vacant after Alok Kumar Verma took over as Delhi Police Commissioner.
Sudhir Yadav Special CP Provisioning and logistics was the hot favourite to take over as DG Tihar but his inclusion as member of Police Establishment Board has queered the pitch. Sources said Vasudeva Rao of 1986 batch may take over as DG Prisons.
