A 15-year-old girl was raped by her landlady’s son over six months in South East Delhi’s Jangpura. The mother is in police custody for her purported collusion. The son meanwhile has hightailed the law.
The landlady is 63-year-old Rajrani Batlor; her 25-year-old son has been identified as Sonu. The minor victim, along with her parents, was a tenant of the Batlors since the past two years. Six months ago, finding the girl alone at home, Sonu offered her a cold drink spiked with sedative. She was subsequently raped. The ordeal has continued since then. The victim approached the landlady for assistance but was threatened with dire consequences if she ever ratted out her son.
“On Thursday evening, the victim accompanied by her mother, approached police and registered a case was under Sections 376, 328, 342, 506, 120-B and several sections of Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) at Hazrat Nizamuddin Police Station of South East Delhi,” a senior police officer said. In another incident, a 30-year-old photographer, Pradeep, was arrested from South Delhi’s Neb Sarai area for allegedly raping and extorting money from a woman over the past three months.
