Tension gripped the Bishrakh area of Greater Noida after a 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped and burnt alive by her boyfriend at her residence on the wee hours of Monday. The accused was arrested on charges of rape and an attempt to murder, said police officials.
According to police, the victim was rushed to nearby private hospital in Greater Noida but the doctors referred her to Safdarjung hospital of South Delhi. Police said she has been kept in burn ward with 80 per cent burn injuries. Doctor said that her condition is critical.
Deputy Superintendent of police, Greater Noida Rakesh Kumar said the victim’s parents have alleged that her daughter was raped by Ajay Sharma (18) who lives in her neighbourhood. Police said the incident took place around 3 am.
“The victim was sleeping in her room. The accused reached there and raped her. When she threatened to narrate the incident to her parents, the accused set her ablaze. The accused has confessed the crime,” DSP told The Pioneer
“We have registered an FIR against the accused under sections 376,307,326,452 of the Indian penal codes and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) in Bishrakh police station. The statements of the victim will be recorded before the magistrate,” the DSP said.
