A 13-year-old girl was raped for a year at a Ghaziabad ashram by some godmen there. The Indirapuram police, on the complaint of the ashram manager, have arrested two Godmen for regularly exploiting the girl sexually, while the third Godman is at large.
The police said Divya Yogmaya Saraswati, the manager of Gurukul Shanti Dham Ashram at Kaushambi has alleged that on July 7, this year, ashram worker Shiv Kumar Mehto alias Shiva (20) barged into the girl’s room and raped her. The girl remained mum due to fear.
Getting encouraged by her silence, the accused, again on Sunday night, barged into her room and attempted to rape her. This time the girl shouted for help and was rescued by the manager of the ashram.
She told the manager a sordid tale of rape incidents which happened in the ashram. Shiva was not the only to rape her, but two other ashram workers — Deshraj alias Varun (35) and Baba Baishakhi Dass had also allegedly been raping her sor a year.
Earlier, she had narrated the incidents to the police and gave details of Varun raping her. The police came to the ashram and thrashed Varun. Then the police asked her to keep silent since the news would earn a bad name to the ashram for which the girl and the manager agreed.
But, getting encouraged by no legal action taken against the accused, a 50-year-old Godman, Baba Baishakhi Das also started raping her. The two men — Varun and Baba Baishakhi Das raped her for a year. Varun and Baba Baishakhi Das continued to rape her for a year alleged the manager of the ashram in her complaint to the police.
The inspector Indirapuram Upendra Yadav said, “We have registered the complaint under Section 376 of IPC. Shiva and Baba Baishakhi Das have been arrested — while raids are being conducted to nab the third accused — Varun — who is absconding.”
