In the case of alleged rape of a nine-year old girl in Sendul village Tehri, the girl was referred reportedly in a critical condition to the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital from Mussoorie Civil Hospital. Social activist, Jabar Singh alleged that police on Saturday took the mother-daughter duo and the accused in the same vehicle for recording their statement and that since then her health had deteriorated.
Narendranagar police Circle Officer (CO), Uttam Singh, who is also the investigating officer in this case told The Pioneer, “We had two separate vehicles for the transportation of the accused and the victim. However one of the vehicles broke down in the middle due to technical fault. We had to take them both in the same vehicle.”
Chairperson of State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Usha Negi and MLA Khajan Das visited the hospital to meet the victim and her family. Negi immediately asked hospital staff to refer the minor from labour room to another. The SCPCR chairperson has also asked for the medical records of the minor.
It is pertinent to mention that on May 31, the victim was earlier brought to the GDMC hospital for medical examination. According to activist Singh, the minor was secretly discharged and with her mother was accompanied back to Tehri without giving information to any of the members that came with them. It is worth mentioning that the accused Vipin Panwar was arrested on the same day.
