In a shocking incident, a 10-year-old minor girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour when she was sleeping on the terrace of her house in South Delhi area on Tuesday night. The 19-year-old accused identified as Ved Prakash has been arrested by the police on the charges of rape and criminal intimidation. The accused lived in a rented
accommodation in the neighbourhood of the victim. He was nabbed soon by the local police while the minor girl was taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre for treatment. The condition of the victim is stated to be stable.
“The girl lived in Aaya Nagar area. The accused, identified as Ved Prakash, lived in a rented accommodation in the same building where the victim lives with her family,” said a police official. The incident took place when the parents of the victim, after putting their daughter to sleep, had gone down for some work. Taking advantage of the situation, the accused sexually assaulted the minor. He then threatened her of dire consequences. The accused then fled the spot. When the parents returned, the girl narrated her ordeal. The medical examination of the girl confirmed rape following which a case was registered.
In another incident reported from Outer Delhi’s Begumpur area an 8-year-old girl was raped by her neighbour on Tuesday evening. Police later apprehended the accused who is a juvenile and registered a case.
