In a shocking incident a minor Class XII girl committed suicide inside Tilak Nagar police station on Saturday night by hanging herself. A magisterial enquiry has been ordered.

Mother of the deceased accused their neighbours for forcing the girl to marry their son Happy Singh. “But since the girl was a minor, we refused the proposal. She was nowhere to be found on Saturday night till 10:30 pm. Happy abducted my daughter and when we reached their house to question him and his family, they thrashed us. Police called me here. I saw her hanging in one room and my 3 sons locked in another room,” she said.

Deceased’s family is blaming police for her suicide and alleged that she was kept in a locked room. Also, they questioned the absence of lady police personnel in police station.

DCP (West) Vijay Kumar told The Pioneer that the  girl reached the police station 2:30 am. "Girl was in fear of her family and doesn't want to go home. Officials on duty were planning to send her in Nari Niketan," said Kumar narrating the sequence.

Assistant sub-inspector Sushil Kumar, who was the investigating officer, and duty writer head constable K Badhoriya have been  suspended, he added.

“She went to Gurudwara and later came to police station," the officer said.

The officer also mentioned that families of both (Happy and the minor) reached police station and they stared fighting each other.

"Family members were fighting each others in outer premise of the station. Police also went out to sort the fight, in the meantime, girl went to another room and locked herself. Police broke the room because the door was locked and found her hanging,” said the officer.
