Minister vows justice to victim's father

The Urban Development Minister has assured justice to the father of suspected auto lifter Mohd Azam Khan, whose custody death has set alarm bells ringing within the Ghaziabad Police.

Khan’s father Khaleel was promised that no policemen would be spared if found guilty. Meanwhile, Ghaziabad District Magistrate SVS Ranga Rao announced that the Gangster Act has been imposed on all eight police personnel involved in the crime, a move taken to deny the culprits relief from court.

The Ghaziabad Police has neither made an attempt to arrest the culprits nor sought any attachment order of their properties. Counsel Ummed Ali claimed the police had not yet responded to the demand for an application before court to issue the attachment order under Section 82 of CrPC. The lawyer alleged that the accused were being shielded.
