The Minister of Delhi Government’s Social Welfare Department on Monday inspected the leprosy Complex at Tahirpur and asked the concerned officials to submit report on the Skill Development centre which is not functioning for last ten years. He also asked the officials to provide the land demarcation details and the mapping of the area to give it a clear picture of the renovation.
Minister of Social Welfare Rajendra Pal Gautam, along with Secretary, Sub-divisional Magistrate (SDM), and officials of Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board, Delhi Development Authority, Delhi Jal Board, Public Welfare Development and East MCD met the locals and inspected the leprosy complex at Tahirpur.
"After inspecting the complex we found that complains of residents have been ignored till now. The entire complex faces waterlogging issues, sewage issues, and drinking water and sanitation issues. The toilet blocks inside the complex are in pathetic condition and needs to be renovated. After getting a report, the department will work on to renovate the entire complex for a better place for these people to live a healthy life," said Gautam.
Further, witnessing complaints from the residents about the lack of bank branches, Social Welfare Minister said the Government will set up more bank branches to cater to the residents in the complex.
