In a tragic incident, a 31-year-old man, who was personal assistant (PA) to Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in South Delhi's laxmibai Nagar area.

The deceased, Kundan Kumar was staying with his family in laxmibai Nagar near Sarojini Nagar. A native of Bihar, Kundan had returned from office on Monday evening and went to sleep in his room after dinner. “When Kundan's wife went to check him around 2 am and didn’t get any respone after knocking the door several times she called her neighbours and broke the doors of the room in which they found Kundan hanging from ceiling fan,” said Romil Baaniya, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), south district.

“We received a call at Sarojini Nagar police station about the incident at 2.25 am. The team reached the spot after receiving the call and the deceased was rushed to Safdarjung Hospital where he was declared 'brought dead',” said the DCP.

“There was no suicide note on the spot. We suspect that he might have taken this step due to dispute between him and his wife. Preliminary probe has revealed that they were not having good relations.  They were married 2 years ago and have a six-month-old son. We have inspected the spot and taken photographs,” said  the DCP. “Further investigation is underway. The body was handed over to his family members  after postmortem examination was done,” Baaniya said.
