land issues that were blocking the Delhi Metro’s extension from Delhi to Ghaziabad have been finally resolved.
Work on the Dilshad Garden-Ghaziabad line is expected to pick up speed after authorities overcame hurdles over the Mohan Nagar and Shyam Park metro stations, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) said.
Giving details, the GDA Officer on Special Duty (OSD) DP Singh said, “The Sahibabad police station was not allowing DMRC to start work for the Shyam Park station on its vacant land. The police station is using this land as the junk yard for its seized vehicles. Though the police station does not have its legal ownership.”
“We had made it clear to them but the police department requested to stay for a while in want of the clearance from the PHQ. The GDA diverted the project about 50 metre towards West paving a way for them to use as it is. Now the metro station would be 50 metre towards West from the police station which does not make much difference in the layout of the project,” he added.
Senior GDA officer DP Singh said, “Of the eight metro stations on the route, clearance was available earlier for six stations. Now the snags over Shyam Park and Mohan Nagar stations have been cleared.”
The eight stations are spread over 9.41 km of Metro route.
The Metro corridor into Ghaziabad will terminate at New Bus Stand in Ghaziabad. The project will cost
Rs1,770 crore.
The GDA has further enforced new traffic diversion plan at its busiest point Mohan Nagar from January 4, 2016. This plan has enforced in view of paving a way for the speedy work for Mohan Nagar Metro station.
