On one hand when the traffic was smooth on the roads on Monday, the metro train service especially Rajiv Chowk witnessed a huge rush throughout the day. The total ridership till 8pm on Monday was 22,85,887 as compared to last Monday when it was 20.5 lakh.
The India Gate circle, which is usually crowded with local and foreign tourists flocking the place, was less crowded because of the security arrangements ahead of the Republic Day. The area comes under the Central Delhi and witness large number of commuters reaching different parts of the city and other far
off places.
“I have taken the metro as my car is odd numbered but the only issue is the frequency of the metros coming. Though the frequency has been increased, it is yet to catch up with the number of people using the metro train service,” said one of the commuters.
