Metro passengers face hardship on Rakshabandhan

Published on:

For the commuters travelling on Delhi Metro to celebrate Rakshabandan on Thursday, Blue Line became a nightmare as the train services were adversely impacted between 2 pm and 3:15 pm due to overhead electricity (OHE) tripping caused due to excessive kite threats. Scores of kites were found entangled at multiple locations on the down line section from Subhash Nagar to Rajori Garden section.

As per the officials, the cause of OHE tripping was found to be due to excessive kite threads getting entangled at multiple locations in this section which were physically checked/removed by maintenance team by patrolling the affected section.

All the kite manza/threads were removed/destroyed by 3:15 pm and normal train movement was restored on entire blue line thereafter, said Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC)

"Services on Blue Line were affected today between 2:00pm to 3:15 pm due to Over head electricity (OHE) tripping on down line section (going towards Noida/Vaishali) from Subhash Nagar to Rajori Garden section," said the official. However, the services resumed later.

The DMRC further in order to facilitate the commuters, it provided services on loops during this period on both the underground and elevated section. "Service was run on both up/down lines in one loop from Kirti Nagar to Noida/Vaishali. Services were run on single line *(thru up line as down line was being physicaly checked by maintenance teams for kite threads)* between Kirti Nagar and Janakpuri West section," said the official.
